There really were a LOT of good songs from that era, so I really do know how hard it is to select just 10. Two factors govern my choices: 1) I could never dance fast, so my choices are mostly the slow ones and 2) I'm afraid I'm a hopeless romantic so they're almost all pretty sappy. The songs seemed to know what I felt but never could say...........
1. Your Precious Love: Jerry Butler and the Impressions .... they said it all..
2: My Prayer: The Platters (The best group ever).. anyone need a 45rpm with NO grooves remaining?
3. Ten Commandments of Love: Harvey and the Moonglows.... this set the rules
4. Unchained Melody: The Rightous Brothers.... remember singing this to your dance partner and trying to reach the high notes....
5. I Can't Stop Loving You: Ray Charles... a killer song for when they broke up with you...
6. Honest I Do: Jimmy Reed... his best..and the greatest harmonica riff yet..
7. Twighlight Time: The Platters... the song I first learned to dance to..
8. Only You: The Platters... great words, it's just that the girls never believed you....
9. Can't Help falling In Love With You: Elvis Presley...well, he did do a couple of good songs, didn't he...
10. You Send Me: Sam Cooke.... a velvet voice
